Brahma Vishnu Maheshwara – A Concept of Trinity

Hinduism is all about allegory. It is a known fact the pearls of wisdom that are hidden behind this web of allegory so beautiful & divine that it sets you free. However, it is cutting through this overlaying web of allegory that makes for a discerning student to spend a lifetime after it unless of-course he is blessed with the guidance of a true master.

What I am trying to extrapolate here then, away from the popular beliefs of the 3 deities that govern the universe as per Hindu mythology & the allegory an idea of what they might actually represent. This is just my theory & does not necessarily have to be right. That is the beauty of theory, isn't it? Theorise all you want until you are proved wrong.

Anyway, my theory based on the roles what these gods represent and link them to the energies both manifest & latent in every human being.

Thus Brahma being the Generator represents the sexual energy, Vishnu the Omnipontent being the latent spiritual energy within each of us & Shiva being the Destroyer, the materialistic energy (not the materialistic nature that we generally allude to) .

Now Brahma being the sexual energy is the most prevalent & obvious of the 3 energies within us that represents creation & creativity too, much like the Freudian theory of sexual energy. Freud was of the opinion that the sexual energy is the driving force for every human being & how he is able to channelise this energy governs his actions against the backdrop of the society that surround him. So, how this energy is then channelised then also has a bearing on the other 2 energies within us. Thus, maybe the representation of Brahma with 4 heads depicting maybe the fact that the sexual energy can be channelised to any direction of your choice.

The Vishnu energy or the spiritual energy that is latent within each of us & is the most difficult to attain. It calls for complete suppression of the materialistic or Shiva energy & control of the Brahma energy to even qualify for introduction to this source. And till such time, this 'soul energy' remains away from the grasp of normal human beings. Maybe, the sleeping form of Vishnu is to depict this latent energy within us which can be realised after severe penance.

Shiva or the materialistic energy is responsible for the feeling of 'Self' or 'Ego' of the person & it is the suppression of this energy that also has a bearing on the Brahma or Sexual Energy. Thus, if the 'Shiva' energy is released in its fullness, it also has an overbearing hold over the Brahma energy which is then channelised for further strengthening its overall hold over the consciousness of the individual & thus can also be the cause of the destruction of the path towards the Spiritual or Vishnu energy. Thus, Shiva is also represented as doing the 'Tandav' of destruction.

Hence, as scriptures say, that it is easier to please Shiva, then Brahma & very difficult to attain Vishnu. Also, even on the path towards realisation, the Shiva energy also manifests as 8 siddhis that gives you lordship over materialistic laws of nature & distracts the true 'sanyasin' from the actual quest for enlightement.

But frankly, who knows what the truth is. There are many facets to the truth depending on your perception of it from your vantage point. Hopefully, I might find my 'Guru' when the time is right who will initiate me into the right way. For it is said, 'When the pupil is ready, the teacher appears'. I am not ready yet.
